How to Set autofucus for action photography on a Nikon DSLR

This video shows Nikon Autofocus setting for action.

Getting started on setting up the AF for action.

1:Set for AF continuous drive

2:Set for Auto-Area AF

3:Set for 3D Matrix metering

4:Set for CL or CH mode

For high speed shooting in RAW file format, SanDisk Extreme IV series Compact Flash Cards are highly recommended for high writing speed. If necessary swap the eyepiece with a magnifying eyepiece with a rubber eyecup for better visibility. follow the steps for better results.

5:Set for RAW slot 1-JPEG slot2.

6:Set for uncompressed.

7:The White Balance Selection depends on the lighting condition you are working under. For this tutorial only we will use direct Sunlight White Balance.

8:Turn active D-lighting off.

9:Turn high ISO-NR off.

10:Set AF-C priority for Focus.

11: Set Dynamic AF area for 51 points (3D-tracking).

12: Turn Focus tracking with Lock-on off.

13:Turn Focus point illumination for continuous mode on.

14: Set Focus point Wrap around for wrap.

15: Shooting speed depends o your preferences in this tutorial we will be using IIFPS continuous High-Speed,9FPS continuous Low-Speed. IIFPS is available in DX Crop mode only on Nikon D3's.

16: Turn File Number sequence on.

17:Set multi-Selector center.

18: The Func. setting depends on your preferences in this tutorial we will be using Choose Image Area (FX/DX/5:4)-you can use FX/DX instead for much faster and time saving image area switch.
